Welcome to Porchella 2026!
This year’s two night festival includes performances from all levels of our program: Guitar 1, Guitar 2, and Studio Music. Each level has an entertaining set that showcases the skills and music they have been working on to put their year’s-worth of growth together.
We have had such an amazing year in the program regarding growth in number but also in growth in musical knowledge and performance! Tonight is truly a celebration of our students as they have put so much time, energy, and excitement into the numerous performances this year.
Tonight you will get to see the conclusion of our two night festival where we say goodbye to a fantastic year of growth and see the potential of where these students will take their craft!
We encourage you to take a minute to meet the people around you. Our community has continue to grow in no small part thanks to patrons like YOU! We love having you here with us and appreciate you taking a minute to make some new friends near you!
We also ask that you enjoy the show like concerts from the golden age of rock. There will be high-quality photos as well as video and audio recordings of the entire performance so we ask that your phones stay stored safely so we can all enjoy the performance in the moment together.
Now sit back, relax, and enjoy this year’s conclusion of Porchella 2026 with your new friends!
We would like to thank Sumin Kim, a Portola Senior, for her assistance in creating the artwork for this year's concert. Posters and T-Shirts are available for purchase and are a great way to remember this magical night for you and your student. They can be purchased at the ticket table near the music rooms. All proceeds will go towards supporting our thriving Pop Music Program at PHS!
Hi, we’re A.W.N.R.S.Y! We’ve got Kang on drums, Dylan on lead guitar, Renee on rhythm guitar, Noa on bass, and Siri and Maddy as vocalists! We’re going to be playing the songs “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” by John Mayer, “Love on The Brain” by Rihanna, and “Say So” by Doja Cat. As you listen to our set, you will notice the common atmospheric vibe of our songs. This was our way to fulfill the dreamy theme that we want to bring to life for this year’s Porchella. Our band name, A.W.N.R.S.Y., stands for Actually We’re Not Really Sure Yet, and for those who don’t know this is a Dork Diaries reference! Do you like Dork Diaries?
Hey guys were Ignition, we’re a band based out of Irvine California, our setlist is grunge, loud and a little worn in just the kind of songs that stick with you. Our band members include, Audrina “The sigma” Wong, Martin “Steezus”, Nicole “Fergy”, Jimmy “The Dragon", Sammy Marcus, Nirvana “Nirvana”, Roi “the legs”, Ethan “the moderator” Martin.
We play grunge the way it’s supposed to sound: loud, rough, and a little worn in. No throwback gimmicks, just the kind of songs that stick with you.
Providence is a student band from Irvine made up of high school musicians with a love for loud guitars, real emotion, and songs that leave a mark. Drawing from the chaos and honesty of My Chemical Romance, the dreamy intensity of The Temper Trap, and the classic punch of Guns N’ Roses, Providence blends emo, alternative, and rock into a sound that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Whether they’re playing I’m Not Okay, Providence, or Sweet Child O’ Mine, they bring a mix of energy, passion, and stage presence that makes every performance hit.

Hi, we’re Larkspur! A student band who are a part of the Instrumental Music program at Portola High School (PHS). Our band includes Lisa on vocals, Leia on vocals and rhythm guitar, Kevin on keys and vocals, Wes (Wesley) on lead guitar, Jeremy on bass, and Josh on drums. With songs ranging from Alternative Rock to Electropop, all generations are sure to love our set! For Porchella this year, we are playing songs including High and Dry by Radiohead, Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, and Death and Romance by Magladena Bay.
Like the flower, Larkspur, you’ll see us bloom tonight on the stage!
Hey we are Altruism! One of the few Studio Music/Pop bands in Portola. Our musical focus is high energy and intricacy. Some of the bands we are covering include My Chemical Romance, Loathe, and Pierce The Veil, all quintessential of their respective genres! Aside from our music, we have a tight knit band; Mack, our singer, who also sings for choir, J.T. our drummer who knits all of our parts together, Ethan, on guitar, performing all four years for the guitar/studio program, Jiwoo also guitar, recently transferred to studio, yet exceeds her role, and finally Shuntaro, our bassist, an aspiring music writer who carries the roots of our music! With a unified idea of music as a band, we hope that we will bring music that the crowd can awe at and jump along to!
Yes, we’re BACK. Now with an EVEN BETTER theme: The Contractors™ . Earlier this year, our group brought in some chaotic energy with the EXTINCTION PROTOCOL project. Now, we have similar goals, but with different routes. If we had destroyed the crowd with some jurassic energy previously, our goal this year is to build up the crowd beginning with the foundations, before absolutely WRECKING DOWN the crowd with our DEMOLISHING energy.
First, we’ll be constructing our foundation strong with the hype energy of R U Mine? By Arctic Monkeys. Then, we’ll proceed to finish up the scaffoldings and pillars of our set with Today by the Smashing Pumpkins. Finally, we’ll be ready to demolish the crowd, ending our 9-5 shift with Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis.
We’ve satisfied our customers last time, we’ll sure do it again this time.
WARNING: The Contractors™ may not align with OSHA regulations
Welcome to Ultraviolet, the studio band that will deliver a variety of sounds and vibes for any occasion, and the band that will make sure YOU have a great time at Porchella. We’ve been playing gig after gig and are finally ready to leave it all on the stage. Our group is comprised of experienced, passionate, and talented musicians that will definitely be the highlight of your night. We have our two classically trained musicians in Sebastian and Evan, on keys and bass respectively. These guys know the theory, and it shows. On rhythm guitar we have Dominic, who constantly delivers and fills the sound that makes our band pop. On lead guitar, we have the prodigy himself Elliot, ripping solos and shredding lines you’ll still be relishing the day after. On the drums are Yuming and Hayden, double the percussion for double the power. And finally, our incredibly ranged vocalist, Ethan, who shot onto the scene in the past few months and is ready to give it his all and more. But that’s not all: be ready for the unexpected, because we’ve got a few friends who just might be joining in on the fun.
Talk to one of your coaches about private tutoring opportunities that they have! Private tutoring is a fantastic way to fuel your fire for music, enhance your understanding, and learn new music! Let's keep moving the program higher next year and try some new things! Lessons on all instruments (Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, and Vocals) are available!
Hey! We're the cover band “Royal Blüdz”. Us two have been friends since kindergarten and want to play something in a genre that we both love. Metal! We have Colby on Bass Guitar and Vocals, and Dylan jamming in the back on the drums. We have always wanted to play in a legit concert together with our own songs, but could never find the opportunity this year. Along with the idea of being in a two-man band hadn’t really come over our heads until the week before we set the bands. Initially, our plan for Porchella was to create our own full band with many people playing, to best mimic each studio recording of our songs, however it never seemed like it could be a reality for us buddies. Though, this time is different. Our setlist includes 3 songs from the band Royal Blood: Little Monster, Figure it Out, and Out of the Black. We hope you enjoy the high energy setlist for the last concert of the year!
What’s crack-a-lackin spark nation! We are Spark Plug, a band playing jazz fusion at Porchella! Our band consists of our guitarists Leon and John, sax/EWI Victor, keyboardist Mary, drummer Michael, and bassist Kaden. Our band is representing T-Sqaure, a Japanese fusion band that found most of its fame in the 90s to 2000s. Our set list is contains 3 songs from 3 separate albums by them. Our set includes a lot of heavy improv and we are hoping to bring the hype with our technical performance and speed! Thank you for coming to Porchella 2026!
Patagonia is the newest, sleekest, most on FLEEK studio band of the new millennium. No other band compares because Patagonia is the BEST. the name Patagonia? It means devotion, unity, and everything in between. This band.. Isn't JUST a band- They’re a family. A group of cool awesome people, and also Arthur Gutierrez, just a few guys with a CRAZY idea, but not overpriced mediocre handheld burgers, no, they thought to get together and create something magical, mystical, PERFECT. They created Patagonia. BLASTING faces off with the sounds of heavy distortion, as well as the 8 string guitar that Sawyer was crying like a baby to get a song with, and melting brains with Arthur’s crazy new bass rhythms- so crazy, in fact, that some might even call it BAD (but what do they know). The choices of songs carry a message Patagonia wants to send: a vulnerable emo callback with The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars, remembrance, love and loyalty with Deftones’ Rosemary, and a finale banger to send off our seniors who really held on till May, with Pierce the Veil’s Hold on Till May. You BETTER enjoy the show.
DOOM SHROOM is a Portola High School band consisting of bassist Jacob, drummer Joseph, guitarists Jibreel and Arya, and singer Ayushi. Our set includes exciting, high-energy Nu Metal classics by Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down, and Deftones. Thank you for coming and we hope you enjoy our set!
The materials we have to support our students come in no small part from our families generosity. Every cable, amp, stage piece, speaker, and instrument the students have access to is thanks to your support. In order to keep our program reaching out to more students and to keep providing our students with the best possible music making experience we have an Amazon Wish List that we would gladly accept gifts from. The list can be found HERE.
As is our tradition we will conclude our two-day music festival with a combination of all of our Popular Music Track students. "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics. It is so great to see how our students that participated in our first MegaBand in 2022 have grown and laid a strong foundation for the next group to build on. This is our take on Sweet Dreams and has our own unique sound and gave the source for the rest of the sets this evening to the groups. Our featured soloists will be Connor Chan, Sharim Khan, Jibreel Haidar, Ethan Williams, Apollo Jaan, Sammy Marcus, and Sean Homma. Enjoy Sweet Dreams!
Thank you once again for joining us here! It has been an amazing year as the students continue to push our performances and quality higher!
None of this would be possible without the help and support from some amazing people. We would like to thank Luke Thomas and Nathan Nguyen for all of their time and dedication in the classroom. We would also like to thank Lee Chhen Stewart and the PHS Music Boosters for all the work they do behind the scenes to support our musicians.
We would also like to thank Erin Zoumaras, Vidalia Resendez, and the entire team at the district office for providing the equipment and performances opportunities that have made this year such a memorable one!
Huge shout out to the VAPA staff: Mr. Desmond Stevens, Matt Distante, Ms. Samantha Gardner, Ms. Samantha Stanford, Mr. Adrien Rangel-Sanchez, Ms. Kearci Thompson, Mr. Mat Pace, and Mr. Donovan Miller.
Our campus and facilities would not be nearly as clean and taken care of without the great work by Mr. Leo Diego and the entire PHS grounds and facilities crew.
Also a huge thank you to Mr. Pehrson, Ms. Paulsen, Mr. Chai, Ms. Ochsner, and Mr. Emery for their support of the arts.
A big thank you to Ms. Tina Murphy and the PNN/Broadcast students for their assistince in documenting our performances tonight and throughout the year!
The artwork this year was created by Sumin Kim, a student of Ms. Thompson, and she did a fantastic job bringing the song Higher to life through the art! Thank you so much and bravo!
To the students: thank you so much for a wonderful year! Your passion and dedication are truly inspiring and have assisted in pushing our program further!
To the audience: thank you for keeping music alive! Without you none of this would be possible and music would not be thriving as much as it is at Portola! We look forward to spending more time together at concerts in the future!
