Welcome to Porchella 2025! We are so happy to have you with us as our students take you on a musical journey through different eras and styles and showcase the skills they have been working on throughout the year. This year has been a huge step forward for our program, and the students are ready to demonstrate how far they have pushed it!
Throughout the past few years we have enjoyed seeing our community grow at these concerts! We hope that you get to meet some of the other concert goers we have with us here tonight! Say hi to your neighbors, and if the spirit moves you please feel free to get up and move to the music!
We hope that you will also stop by and grab something to eat. A portion of the proceeds from the vendors will go towards supporting our amazing students and program.
T-shirts, glow items, posters, and group photos are all available for purchase tonight. Stop by the merch booth to see what we have for you!
To sum it up - THANK YOU! Thank you for the support throughout the year, thank you for spending your time with us tonight, and thank you for allowing us another opportunity to share the passion of the students with you!
Students in this group have taken the bold step to play music that depends solely on their guitar playing. We have learned some classic jazz, blues, and funk styles on the guitar AND have learned how to play the melodies. On top of that, students in this group have worked with each other to take the bold step to begin improvising. Tonight you will hear threee classic tunes and featured soloists on all of them. Please cheer on our students as they serenade you with the smooth sounds of the guitar heros of the past!
Talk to one of your coaches about private tutoring opportunities that they have! Private tutoring is a fantastic way to fuel your fire for music, enhance your understanding, and learn new music! Let's keep moving the program higher next year and try some new things! Lessons on all instruments (Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, and Vocals) are available!
We would like to thank Grace Fang, a Portola Senior, for her assistance in creating the artwork for this year's concert. Posters and T-Shirts are available for purchase and are a great way to remember this magical night for you and your student. They can be purchased at the ticket table near the music rooms. All proceeds will go towards supporting our thriving Pop Music Program at PHS!
The students in our Guitar 2 course this year hit the ground running through collaboration, composition, rehearsal, and performance. They took the skills they learned in other courses and melded them together to take the projects for the course to the next level and create amazing art through their hard work. They have been performing since December and have grown as individuals and as band-mates. They have taken creative chances by trying different instruments and styles and have become fantastic performers.
We hope you enjoy the sounds of our Guitar 2 bands!
Welcome to guitar center! For the band, we got Jackson on the Bass, Max on Vocals, Kylan and Aditya on rhythm guitar, and Charles on the drums. We will be playing some niche guitar center songs that everyone loves but can't hear enough of. The songs will be Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, Wonderwall by Oasis, and Buddy Holly by Weezer. We selected these niche songs from the company's niche playlist that we feel are niche and need more appreciation. Did I mention the songs are niche? We hope you have an amazing experience on your trip to the guitar center!
Our band members include Sammy Marcus on keyboard, Jimmy Dai on bass, Ethan Martin on lead guitar, Arthur Gutierrez and Sai Carlson on rhythm guitars, Zoe Chang as our lead vocalist, and Samuel Marcus on drums.
We’ll be performing Just by Radiohead, Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, and Where Is My Mind by Pixies. We chose these songs because they’re fun to play and have great energy that we know the audience will enjoy.
Cherry Bomb is a dynamic band that shines a spotlight on alternative rock songs. Full of energy, they deliver memorable performances, starting with "Song 2" by Blur, which hooks the audience with its infectious energy. This is followed by "No Surprises" by Radiohead, which creates a calm mood and a feeling of nonchalance. The performance concludes with "Under The Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, a catchy song that serves as a great finale. Led by Evan on bass, the band features Derrick on vocals, Hayden on drums, and Helen on lead guitar. Tyler, Dominic, and Tianyi round out the sound with rhythm guitar melodies. Whether strumming chords or singing songs, Cherry Bomb doesn't play it safe—they blow it up.
We are the Stoked Martians. For the Drummer, it’s Arya, the Guitarists are Jiwoo, Nathan Samson, and Logan. The Vocalists are Wesley and Yeeun. The songs we are playing are Reptilla and You Only Live Once by The Strokes and Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars. We chose these songs for the different energy they bring while being fun to learn and play.
With Mack on Vocals, Dylan on Drums, Nathan on Bass, Roi on Lead guitar, John on Rhythm guitar, and Eric on Rhythm guitar. We will be playing Teenage Dirtbag by Wheetus, Santeria by Sublime, and Twist and Shout by The Beatles. The band chose these songs as they are popular. We tried to choose our favorite songs that are also attainable.
Andoni Le, Sam Seyedzadeh, Joseph Wainwright, Juno Hwang, Jack Le, Aditya Joshi
Holiday - Green Day, The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana, My Hero - Foo Fighters
Truculence is an upcoming band that focuses on telling stories of society with the usage of music. Our performance depicts a man who fights intensively in a war where he must make tragic sacrifices until a man saves him from his tragedy and troubled times. As Truculence makes their debut with Andoni as their main vocalist, Sam as their skilled lead guitarist, Juno as their groovy bassist, Joseph as their powerful drummer, and Aditya and Jack as their duo rhythm guitarists, we hope to energize and tell a meaningful story to everyone.

The materials we have to support our students come in no small part from our families generosity. Every cable, amp, stage piece, speaker, and instrument the students have access to is thanks to your support. In order to keep our program reaching out to more students and to keep providing our students with the best possible music making experience we have an Amazon Wish List that we would gladly accept gifts from. The list can be found HERE.

Music continues to be alive and well in Irvine, and that is in no small part thanks to patrons like YOU! Without an audience our music wouldn't have the same meaning and our program would not be as healthy and vibrant as it is. We truly enjoy seeing such a variety of students and musicians in our program and are grateful for the opportunity to provide them a space to share their art and passion with the public. Thank you for coming!
