Welcome to Porchella 2024! We are so happy to have you with us as our students take you on a musical journey through different eras and styles and showcase the skills they have been working on throughout the year. It has been an amazing year and we are very much looking forward to one more great night of music before we head off into summer!
We have a variety of food options for you and hope you enjoy the selection. A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting our amazing students and program.
Throughout the past few years we have enjoyed seeing our community grow at these concerts! We hope that you get to meet some of the other concert goers we have with us here tonight!
To sum it up - THANK YOU! Thank you for the support throughout the year, thank you for spending your time with us tonight, and thank you for allowing us another opportunity to share the passion of the students with you!
The students in this ensemble opted to perform a set focused around blues and funk for Porchella. Their set contains a wide range of styles and is heavily rooted around improvisation and melodic lead guitar playing. This group has worked hard this semester to add their own flair to these songs and put on a great show for this year's festival!

The students in our Guitar 2 course this year hit the ground running through collaboration, composition, rehearsal, and performance. They took the skills they learned in other courses and melded them together to take the projects for the course to the next level and create amazing art through their hard work. They have been performing since December and have grown as individuals and as band-mates. They have taken creative chances by trying different instruments and styles and have become fantastic performers.
We hope you enjoy the sounds of our Guitar 2 bands!

Throughout their existence, Double Pump has worked tirelessly to perfect their sound, and bring it to the people of Portola High School. The members of the band are most well known for the their appearance in Portola’s hit musical festival, Battle of the Bands. Set in Stone is an awesome band featuring talented musicians from Guitar 2 Period 3. Lead vocalist Ayushi Bhattacharjee and lead guitarist Enzo Fukushima know how to take up the stage. With infectious enthusiasm and energy, there is never a dull moment with drummer Isaac Kim. Talented bassist Juno Heneks is always there to uplift the good vibes with her slick, funky basslines… And last but not least, rhythm guitarist Ethan Martin! A key element to Set in Stone and with amazing technique, Ethan never disappoints. Set in Stone is super excited to perform at Porchella 2024! Rock” on!

Hello! We are Swords and Tulips! The band is made up of Elliot as Lead Guitarist, Kang as Drummer, Shayleb as Bass, Hea as Vocalist, and Aayan as Rhythm Guitarist. Elliot landed from the far-off planet of Zeppelina, Kang brushed up his drumming skills after finding an ancient drumstick made of a one-of-a-kind exotic tree bark, Shayleb got materialized inside of the churning hot gases of a star, Hea found her inner passionate energy after boldly facing a three-headed tyrant of the planet Cyzon, and Aayan was disbanded from members of his own fellow species, the Ai-Yons, after getting into a fatal spaceship accident and going on a crash course for Earth. Our arch rival is Double Pump!

We come from simple beginnings. A ragtag group of kids from Irvine. Today we will rock at Porchella. One of the largest music concerts in the Tri-State Area. But we will always remember our simple beginnings. We will always Remember Tomorrow.
Events like tonight would not be possible without the support and assistance of our parents and families. We would like to thank Lee Chhen Stewart, Raina Song, Melody Andico, Erica Borquez, JP Sharp, Vinna Funng, and Lourdes Atienza for all they have done for our program throughout the year! If you are interested in joining our community and continuing to build our events ask one of the directors about how you can get involved! Meetings happen once a month in person or on Zoom and we have positions of all levels.
The materials we have to support our students come in no small part from our families generosity. Every cable, amp, stage piece, speaker, and instrument the students have access to is thanks to your support. In order to keep our program reaching out to more students and to keep providing our students with the best possible music making experience we have an Amazon Wish List that we would gladly accept gifts from. The list can be found HERE.

Music is alive and well in Irvine, and that is in no small part thanks to patrons like YOU! Without an audience our music wouldn't have the same meaning and our program would not be as healthy and vibrant as it is. We truly enjoy seeing such a variety of students and musicians in our program and are grateful for the opportunity to provide them a space to share their art and passion with the public. Thank you for coming!
We would also like to thank Mr. John Pehrson, Jen Ochsner, Amy Paulsen, and James Coney for their support throughout the year, Mr. Leo Diego and the facilities staff for keeping our spaces clean and facilitating the evening, Ms. Samantha Sanford and the tech students for their work and facility usage, Mr. Adrian Rangel-Sanchez for the undying support, Mr. Kearci Moir and Summer Hsieh for assisting in the art for tonight, Jonathan Zuniga for his assistance in making the sound magical, Jonathan Zuniga, Luke Thomas, and David Sauer for their expertise and ensemble coaching, and the PE Department for the usage of their excellently crafted games for tonight.
