Thank you so much for joining us tonight! Our jazz students have grown so much as musicians, improvisers, and as a band since we began playing November. We have focused on tuning, balance, style, and improvisation throughout the semester and the students have absolutely become a new group. It has taken time and dedication and we could not be prouder of how far they have come.
Tonight's performance will showcase all of our students as soloists on at least one tune and we will be performing styles ranging from classic swing to latin and funk.
Thank you so much for your support throughout the year and making our program as strong as it has become. We are so appreciative of our community and truly love seing you here with us tonight.
Please feel free to clap during the tunes after the performers are done with their solos or if you hear something that makes you excited! We hope you enjoy Jazz Night 2026!
Tunes and soloists will be announced from the stage by our MC for the evening and our outstanding senior bassist - Noa Stewart.
Events like tonight would not be possible without the support and assistance of our parents and families. We would like to thank our booster board, our parent volunteers tonight, and everyone that contributed to the dinner! If you are interested in joining our community and continuing to build our events please reach our to our boosters - musicboosterportolahs@gmail.com.
The materials we have to support our students come in no small part from our families generosity. Every cable, amp, stage piece, speaker, and instrument the students have access to is thanks to your support. In order to keep our program reaching out to more students and to keep providing our students with the best possible music making experience we have an Amazon Wish List that we would gladly accept gifts from. The list can be found HERE.
Without the support of you this concert, this music, and the effort behind it would not have the meaning it does. To have you here with us tonight means the world to our students and our staff and we could not thank you enough for spending your evening with us under the spring moonlight.
We would also like to thank:
Mr. John Pehrson, Jen Ochsner, Amy Paulsen, Steve Chai, and Brandon Emery for their support throughout the year
Mr. Leo Diego and the facilities staff for keeping our spaces clean and facilitating the evening
Ms. Samantha Sanford and the tech students for their work and facility usage
Mr. Adrian Rangel-Sanchez & Mr. Matthew S. Distante for their undying support
The PHS Music Boosters
Our amazing music families
Our crowd and community for their support!
