Welcome to Battle Of Rock Bands 2026! We are so excited to showcase our students passion, perseverence, and skills on the stages tonight! Throughout the evening you will see our 12 Studio Music bands on the mainstage battling to see who will join the ranks of the Champions Of Rock Bands Gilded Guitar in 301. Between our Studio Music bands our Guitar 2 groups will play their first song of the year.
It has truly been an amazing beginning of the year with all of the students. The knowledge and passion that entered our room in August is immense and the students have been doing a great job of challenging themselves to push the program further.
I applaud you all for being here tonight and for keeping live music alive and well in our community!
While this is a competition we hope that you support all of our groups as they have come such a long way! The voting will be taking place on Instagram at our page - @phs_instrumental_music - and will be based on the most "likes" the students clips get tonight. Please feel free to share the videos to get them as many likes as we can get! Voting will be cut off at 10 pm, so start sharing as soon as they get posted!
I encourage you to say hi to the people on your left and right and make some new friends! Music and concerts are about community and we are blessed to have such a strong community to celebrate our students and enjoy the music!
Thank you for joining us!
-Mr. Traska and the PHS Instrumental Crew

In our group we have Diya Sreekumar on vocals, Jaslyn Nguyen on vocals, Vedant Atreya on rhythm guitar, Noah Nguyen on lead guitar, Keaton Ma on bass, and Nathan Penuelas on drums! We wanted songs that we liked and we were passionate about! Our setlist is Territorial Pissings by Nirvana, Freakin’ Out by Dexter and the Moonrocks, and Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana! Each of these songs showcases us as a group from the raw energy and emotion to just having fun performing with eachother. Together we bring the energy and the emotion into our performances showcasing our diverse talents and our hearts into this performance!
We are StrikeOut, a band of many multi-instrumentists. We have Derrick Fang on vocals, Danny Olvera-Hernandez on guitar, Averie Mckinley on keytar/keys, Jay Fang on keys/bass, Asyl Serikbay on bass/drums, and Ian Choi on drums/vocals. We hope you come and watch us at Battle Of the Rock Bands!
Our band name is Hatonmac and you guys should give a crap about us because we are cool and wild teens with something to prove to the audience. Rylan has been a vocalist for about nine years and has enjoyed singing his whole life. Kaden started playing the bass at the end of sophomore year and has been playing it ever since. Hankyul has been playing the piano his entire life and plans of going further with playing the piano in the future. Nirvaan recently picked up the drums midway through his freshman year and has been offered many different gigs and being remained professional on the drums. Both Jona and Shuntaro have started playing the guitar two years ago and have been learning off each other ever since and they are both been very persistent with their professionalism. Yuming has played the drum for about a year and is still trying to accomplish the best of his abilities to become a successful drummer. Yuming is also taking AP Music Theory and is trying his absolute hardest to become a professional musician. Our band is increasingly professional and knows what they are doing.
Events like tonight would not be possible without the support and assistance of our parents and families. We would like to thank Jonathan Briggs Sr. and the full PHS Music Booster Team for making all of this possible!
If you are interested in joining our team we are always looking for more help! Email our president - Ms. Lee Chhen Stewart - at musicboosterportolahs@gmail.com.

We have Leia and Rosha on vocals, Juhwan on keys, Jiwoo on bass, Oliver on drums, Jaiden on lead guitar, and Tianyun on Rhythm Guitar. Despite our name, we will be playing some city pop, emo pop, and alternative rock for you tonight. This includes an english translation of Hysteric Night Girl by PSYQI, that Leia and Oliver worked hard to bring to life, as well as I’m Low On Gas and You Need a Jacket by Pierce the Veil, and Diamond Eyes by Deftones! Hope you enjoy our set! :)
Hello everyone, we are the Green Cold Bell Peppers. We are a band that brings back the old grungy rock back to presence. We have Josh and Iza on the vocals, Max and Ramin on guitar, Grey on bass, and Ted on the drums. The mixture of fresh and young sounds and the old grungy sound makes our band unique.
We are F.L.U.S.H., the most nuanced band you will hear at Battle of Rock Bands. We have Ethan on vocals, Noah on guitar and vocals, Arya on guitar, Jonathan on bass, Michael on drums, and Victor on saxophone and keyboard. We start off with a bang with “Hole in the Earth” from Deftones’ Saturday Night Wrist. Be ready to hear a heavenly chorus and vocals from Ethan. Next, you’ll be hearing “Lonely Day” by System of A Down, where we put our own twist on it. You’ll be hearing a masterful solo from Arya followed by a sax solo breakdown from Victor. Finally, we cap off our set with “For Whom the Bell Tolls” from Metallica, beginning with a roaring, distorted, and striking bass solo from Jonathan, followed by a heavy drop from Michael. We’ll make sure you hear it the morning after. You will never forget it.

Hello! We are I DO, based locally in Orange County, California. We have Yeun and Kingston on guitar, Derrick on bass, JT on drums, Sophie on keys, and Mimi on vocals. We aim to deliver romantic songs that could melt the audience down towards our energetic set. Music continues to be alive and well in Irvine, and that is in no small part thanks to patrons like YOU! Without an audience our music wouldn't have the same meaning and our program would not be as healthy and vibrant as it is. We truly enjoy seeing such a variety of students and musicians in our program and are grateful for the opportunity to provide them a space to share their art and passion with the public. Thank you for coming!
We would also like to thank Mr. John Pehrson, Jen Ochsner, Amy Paulsen, Brandon Emery, and Steven Chai for their support throughout the year, Mr. Leo Diego and the facilities staff for keeping our spaces clean and facilitating the evening, Ms. Samantha Sanford and the tech students for their work and facility usage, Mr. Adrian Rangel-Sanchez for the undying support, Mr. Kearci Thompson and Grace Fang for assisting in the art for tonight, Mr. Andy Marshall for running our sound, and our coaches Nathan Nguyen and Luke Thomas for all of their support throughout the year.
